What is ASDC?

The Arts & Skill Development Council (ASDC) is a unit of WeSantal – Self Government Council that works to empower youth and community members through sports, traditional games, arts, and skill-based activities.

Who can participate in ASDC programs?

ASDC programs are open to youth and students, village community members, sports players, volunteers, and traditional game practitioners. Participation is open, inclusive, and community-based.

Is there any age limit to participate?

There is no strict age limit. Programs are designed for children, youth, and adults. Activities are organized age-appropriately.

Are ASDC programs free or paid?

Most ASDC programs are free and non-commercial. If any local contribution is required, it is managed by the village committee, not ASDC.

What types of activities does ASDC conduct?

ASDC conducts sports events (football, races, jumps, relay, etc.), traditional and tribal games, arts and cultural activities, quizzes and knowledge programs, and leadership and volunteer skill activities.

Does ASDC organize events directly?

ASDC works in collaboration with villages. Village committees organize local events while ASDC provides program framework, discipline, and documentation. ASDC supports, not replaces, village leadership.

Will participants receive certificates?

Yes. Participants may receive official certificates based on their involvement.

Who issues ASDC certificates?

Certificates are issued under WeSantal – Self Government Council and are jointly signed by the President (WeSantal), Secretary (WeSantal), and Village Manjhi (Customary Authority). This gives institutional and traditional recognition.

Are ASDC certificates academic or job certificates?

No. ASDC certificates are community participation and skill recognition certificates, not academic degrees or government job certificates.

Are ASDC programs political or religious?

No. ASDC is non-political, non-commercial, and community and culture-oriented. All activities respect Santali customs and traditions.

Does ASDC promote alcohol, gambling, or betting in sports?

Absolutely not. ASDC strictly follows no alcohol, no gambling or betting, fair play and discipline, and maintains a child-safe environment.

How does ASDC respect traditional governance?

ASDC works in coordination with Village Manjhi, village committees, and Gram Sabha/elders. Traditional authority is always respected.

Can villages request ASDC support for their events?

Yes. Villages may request ASDC support for sports programs, traditional games, and youth skill activities. Requests are reviewed and coordinated respectfully.

Is ASDC registered and legally valid?

Yes. ASDC operates under WeSantal Memorandum of Association & Bye-laws, Societies Registration Act, 1860, and Santali customary governance system.
